Joan & Jeff Fortune's - TravelTripe

Modern travel tales in the style of the 19th century diarists ... and photographs too.

What we are - two people who love to travel independently and have found we like to write about what's happening, when it is happening. What we are not - neither writers of guide books nor travel experts. We consult guide books and experts for advice. We have decided to save guided tours and cruises for later when age places restrictions on our abilities. Our travel is budgeted, but is probably in the realm of moderately expensive, certainly not luxurious, but also not budget travel.

Background - We started writing a few years ago to stay in touch with a friend who was going through some tough health problems. We E-mailed to her and soon found out that it was being shared around town and then others started asking to receive our TravelTripe. This has grown by word of mouth into an expanding international circle of new friends and e-mail acquaintances. Apparently people are having as much fun reading this Tripe as we are writing and photographing.

So, if you find this pleasant, something that provides a smile, activates your own travel memories, or creates some new dreams, enjoy.

Thank you for the visit.

Peking - Paris 1997 road rally and around the world in a 1955 Chevrolet

The second running of the Peking Paris road rally and the completion of Cecilia's round the world adventure. The 1907 Peking Paris was the first and stood as the worlds longest rally for 90 years. In 1997, 85 antique vehicles from 21 countries departed Peking October XX, 1997, to race along the same route. Our Florida team was the bright orange 1955 Chevy Bel Aire station wagon "Cecilia"

Peking to Paris, is it an endless drive or the Baja 1,000? The Iditorod or 45 days of sleding around Anchorage? Is crossing 17 rivers to be tiptoing through big puddles or an Everglades muck rally for monster trucks?

This choice is photographs only.
